Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at lynn.chipandachairpoker@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

YES!  and No.  It doesn't cost you anything to play poker with Chip and a Chair at any of our venues.  You will receive a starting stack of chips and a chair, and then you'll be ready to play.  However, sometimes when things are "free" it means the cost is being paid by others.  The venue is providing the space, keeping us warm and dry, and keeping the lights on.  Your dealers are volunteering their time to help the game run smoothly and efficiently.  You can show appreciation to the venue by buying food or drink -- a meal before the game, a snack, a tasty cocktail, or whatever you like.  You can show your appreciation to your wait staff with a generous tip -- 20% to 25% is standard.  You can show your appreciation to your dealer with a tip as well.  If you came to make $1,000s of dollars playing poker for free, you might find that a bit frustrating.  If you came to have a fun time, hang out with new or established friends, and enjoy some good food and drink, then a Chip and a Chair poker game is exactly what you want.

You are welcome to be a volunteer dealer for any game that you attend.  Dealers may receive tips from players, but not every player is able to tip, so keep your expectations reasonable.  We ask that you do the following:

  • Be on time (or a little early) so you can let us know you want to deal and you can get set up.
  • Feel free to play along with the other players at your table.  Just be sure that you give each player attention when needed.
  • Make sure to keep the game family friendly, kind, and courteous.
  • Call on the tournament director when you need help or anticipate needing help.
  • Stay until the game is over or everyone at your table is out.  Should you find yourself out early in the game, we ask you to stay and continue to deal until tables are consolidated or until someone can replace you.

That's the plan!  We're a new poker league, trying to do something a little different, so we don't have actual tournament dates and qualifications set up.  However, we are tracking points now that will count when we do get the details established.
